Meet landscape painter Laura Gates of Alexandria, Louisiana, who is inspired by her four decades as a park ranger with the National Park Service. She paints both plein air and in her studio, and through her brushstrokes strives to express a connection to the land and to place. We look at the transformative power that photographs had in the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.
