[Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] green [Music] hey hey ziggy what you doing i'm in my first movie i found a camera in the junkyard and now i'm filming tonight's benefit jack says i'm making a documentary that's when you make a movie about something that's really happening and this is really happening oh that's awesome congratulations ziggy um have you seen river no okay well have fun pat's off bye [Music] all right it's time john you're on let's do this oh hi holly hi pat oh hi guys how's the benefit going oh so far so good seems like we're making a lot of money for the arts center and nick is making sure everybody looks fabulous [Music] more pink more purple more hats more scarves oh you have no sense of proportion balance please nonsense more more more [Music] and everyone seems to be having a good time audience and artist great great um so have any of you guys seen river nah i haven't seen him how do you think it's going at the city council meeting well i i don't know and i don't know what we'll do if they vote to re-zone us i mean what even happens to a junkyard that zoned ub-40 well let's hope the city council votes to keep us the zone we are now and we don't have to find out here here hey guys is that what you're gonna wear when we uh play later on [Music] hi jack oh hi ziggy how goes the movie making oh this camera is great and tonight's benefit is great thanks for giving me the idea to make a movie about what's happening here at the junkyard tonight a documentary oh right a documentary about tonight i've been filming all the artists while they perform it's fun but sometimes they seem really small on stage when i'm filming them from here with my camera you're talking about proportion proportion how things compare to each other with size or shape or distance even important oh but the artists are important only well i film them with my camera and they look so small that they don't really seem important that's the power of proportion how big or small things appear impact how strongly you feel about them that's why it's so important when you're making art even documentaries sure all art take my sculpture here for example see how the top and bottom work together even though they're different shapes and sizes this is a sculpture well yes we're in the sculpture garden and a sculpture is a kind of art that goes out in all directions and is made of all sorts of things yes and this one has proportion all sculptures do but this one is big right [Music] oh guys i've got to go get ready for the show [Music] hey youtube uh have you seen river uh the band is going on soon and i would like to have all the members here before we do i haven't seen him yet but i expect him any minute well i don't want to go on without it good thing we have so many talented artists here to keep us entertained until he gets back my name is cecilia pham and i am nine years old i am in fourth grade i practice piano about an hour every day when i grow up i would like to play piano in church i like to learn new songs on the piano i like playing for myself best break a leg everybody thanks bye miss alba i had never heard a violin played until tonight it was beautiful graciasi what do you like best about playing music on it the joy [Music] [Applause] hey y'all the first lady mrs edwards is here to make a big announcement are y'all about ready to go on just about todd thanks we'll be up the roof in a minute it was really nice of the first lady to come by and support us like this i'll go now so you can get ready thank you so much for inviting me to play it was fun please come back again well what do we do are we going to play without river well i'm not going on without river river [Applause] just like in the movies well river what did they say did the council vote to rezone us or what sorry guys i tried they voted to rezone us ub 40. no nick don't blow things out of proportion wait and hear what river has to say so river what did they say they said we have to be less than 50 percent of junkyard wait so we can still be a junkyard just not mostly junkyard yeah i i don't know well that's just weird what it is is good news we don't have to close down we just have to keep the community radio station and add something else to the mix oh yeah hey y'all are on what do i call y'all oh hey man call us ziggy in the junkyard band neat good evening everyone i'm louisiana's first lady donna edwards thank you for joining us here at the junkyard tonight for a great cause i am happy to announce that with your help tonight's benefit has raised enough money to open a community arts center [Applause] and they're such a part of our community and we're glad pleasant valley is going to have a place where everyone can enjoy the arts and because we learned today that the roller rink we plan to use as our new art center is going to open back up as a roller rink so we can all skate again [Applause] what we desperately need now is somewhere for our new art center that's zoned you be 40. you be 40. it's us now right river yeah that's what the city council voted man six to three we're ub40 then we could be the new community arts center that's awesome let's do it miss louisiana first lady i think our new community arts center can open right here in the junkyard that's wonderful everyone i am very pleased to announce the opening of the community junkyard art center oh we're gonna be all right everything worked out just like in the movies thank you so much miss edwards louisiana is truly so lucky to have you as a champion for the arts and now for the last act of the evening let's hear it for ziggy and the junkyard band let's rock one two three four [Music] rocket [Music] so the band played and the benefit worked we spent the summer opening an art center at the junkyard we're still a junkyard just not mostly a junkyard river says we also edited my movie i mean my documentary only i'm thinking of maybe making it a series instead a way to show all i'm learning about the arts while i'm here on earth i'm thinking of calling it ziggy's arts adventure [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hi mom hi dad i'm still having fun and learning a lot here at the junkyard art center radio station i'm sending you my first film so you could all watch him it was so great to share how i feel about this place and all these people and all the arts making a movie is neat like that jack and i edited it so it has just the right amount of violin playing you have to think about proportion when you're making art todd says oh he's this director who's helping me learn to be a director i'm already planning what i want to film next there's always lots of new things happening every day like the junkyard getting a pottery studio because pat says she must throw pots i don't know what that means or how that will feel but i can't wait to learn earth arts are so much fun watch my movie you'll see now that i'm a director with my own camera i can share my fun with you because i don't know what we'll do next around here but i know it's going to be a great adventure [Music] support provided by louisiana
